1060

It is simple in it's makeup so as not to cause too many problems with all of the heating and working. It is slightly hypo-eutectoid but one only needs .60% carbon to achieve full hardness, but I like to have a little more carbon than this in my steels, but who am I? 1060 should make a good steel for a beginner or old pros. But this is about the lowest one should go in carbon content for the 10XX if one desires full hardness.
